Asset Assembly Technical Assistant
- Feature Animation

Please note this is a hybrid position and requires you to work from our Vancouver studio for part of the work week. This is not a remote opportunity.

This role is for maternity leave coverage until the end of 2024 with a possibility of extension. 

Are you looking to get into the animation industry? Have you always wanted to learn how animation films are made? We are looking to add an entry level technical assistant to our Asset Assembly team. The successful candidate will get a chance to learn the flow and assembly of animation assets from the modeling, rigging and surfacing team, while working closely with the applicable department supervisors and leads.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Support the modelling, surfacing, and rigging departments in managing their assets.
  • Triage asset related errors using JIRA tickets and follow up with those the error affects. This usually involves review renders not looking as expected.
  • You’ll perform an initial investigation of errors to the best of your ability and either fix them yourself or direct the error to the corresponding department.
  • Support the production team in delivering assets to shot departments such as animation and layout.
  • Promote workflows that will help you perform your job more efficiently.
  • Create and update documentation related to the Asset Assembly department.
  • Establish close partnerships with a wide variety of departments, their supervisors and artists.

What you bring:

  • An interest in animated/VFX feature, TV commercials or animated series as a Technical Assistant
  • Alternatively, completion of multiple high quality projects at university, or the equivalent.
  • An interest with supporting modelling, surfacing and or rigging artists
  • Programming experience in Python is a huge bonus.
  • Excellent in pro-active problem solving and finding solutions within the given parameters
  • Adaptable in approach, with the ability to balance your workload, the needs of the supes and leads, and production deadlines.
  • The ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work across multiple areas, remaining calm under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in both a technical and artistic manner
  • Willing to learn and contribute to the success of the team and project

The base wage range for this position is $21.63 – $26.44 per hour. The wage offered for this role will be commensurate with, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, years of experience, relevant education, and other applicable qualifications related to the role. The wage offered is based on a 40-hour work week and is not inclusive on Animal Logic’s extended benefits package, long-term incentives, bonuses, overtime pay or other components that may be applicable to the total compensation package for this role.
