Assistant Accountant

We are looking for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will be suited to someone who has prior exposure to the month end side of accounting, with a background in AP.

The role is responsible for a wide range of duties to support the Financial and Management Accountants. This includes managing the accounts payable function for both Australian and US entities and provide ongoing assistance to the wider Corporate Accounting team including but not limited to the following:

Accounts Payable

  • Timely processing and payment of supplier invoices and employee expenses
  • Daily reconciliation of Australian and US company bank accounts
  • Maintain the Creditor database
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of petty cash float, credit cards

Month End/Year End

  • General ledger reconciliations
  • Banking and inter-company reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with the preparation for review of LA business tax filings
  • Assisting with the Fixed Assets Register
  • Assisting with the annual audit process
  • Ensuring accounting standards and internal policies are adhered
  • Assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives
  • Assist with payroll if required
  • Ad hoc accounting duties to support the broader team

Education:

  • A tertiary qualification/Diploma in accounting required

The successful applicant will have:

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in similar role
  • Currently studying or with a view to study towards CPA/CA
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines and reporting timelines
  • Confidence and a good attitude with eagerness to learn
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel/Word skills
  • Great communication and people skills
  • A positive team player with the ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a small team environment
