IT Support Engineer – Junior

Love movies and tinkering with tech? Want to work with both highly creative and technical people in a creative, dynamic, and fast-paced environment? Animal Logic is looking for a Junior Support Engineer to join the IT team.

As a Junior Support Engineer, you will provide global support across the studio, helping to produce award-winning feature animations across our Sydney, Vancouver, and LA offices. From creating mischievous bunnies in Peter Rabbit, building heroic minifigs in The LEGO Movies, to teaching prancing penguins how to dance in Happy Feet, our films inspire audiences around the world.

To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian/New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or hold permanent work rights in Australia with no restrictions. 

 What you will get to do:

  • Be the face / representative of the IT department
  • Work alongside Senior Engineers and Systems Engineering teams to problem solve under highly critical time sensitive and alongside teams during outage incidents
  • Work on ad-hoc and cross-team projects to help the team make sure we’re always up-to-date, always compliant, and always anticipating future problems
  • As a Junior Engineer, you’ll be the stalwart first line of defense for any problems our Service Desk can’t tackle. Your recommendations and solutions will form the frameworks of our team’s processes and the next wave of global fixes
  • Install and deploy new and/or rebuild existing workstations, configure hardware, peripherals, services, and settings in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Participate in troubleshooting for internally developed applications, as well as problem resolution for VFX applications such as Nuke and Maya
  • Finally, you’ll drive the team toward Service Excellence, working in tandem with fellow Engineers, Supervisors, and Managers to improve knowledge sharing, contribute to a learning culture, and increase efficiencies in our troubleshooting and ticket-handling practices

What you bring:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a client facing desktop support role or similar
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred
  • Technical support experience at 1st/2nd level, including experience escalating tickets, after-hours, and on-call support as required
  • Experience working with modern Windows and MacOS operating systems – Linux experience a plus!
  • Some experience working with Microsoft 365 in an administrative capacity
  • Basic scripting experience in Bash, Windows CMD/PowerShell, or Python
  • Experience supporting both local and remote employees, including management of remote hardware and accessories – with an emphasis on talking non-technical users through technical solutions
  • Proven ability to document knowledge accurately and completely, and train other staff as needed (presentation and delivery skills)
  • Remote support, on-call after hours support experience highly desirable
  • Experience working within an Entertainment / Media industry is beneficial
