Please note this is a hybrid position and requires you to work from our studio for part of the work week. This is not a remote opportunity.

Do you have solid experience with Linux? Have you worked in the media, entertainment or gaming industry? Animal Logic is looking for a Support Engineer to join the IT team in our creative, dynamic and fast-paced environment!

As an IT Support Engineer, you will provide global support across the studio, helping to produce award-winning feature animations across our Sydney, Vancouver, and LA offices. From creating mischievous bunnies in Peter Rabbit, building heroic minifigs in The LEGO Movies, to teaching prancing penguins how to dance in Happy Feet, our films inspire audiences around the world.

To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian/New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or hold permanent work rights in Australia with no restrictions. 

What you will get to do:

  • Be the face / representative of the IT department
  • Work autonomously to multi-task, prioritise and problem solve under highly critical time sensitive and alongside teams during outage incidents
  • Drive technical projects, OS deployments, and application rollouts from beginning to end
  • As an IT Support Engineer, you will support, manage, review, and maintain the day-to-day processes operations of Information Technology across the business. You’ll lead the team toward a first point-fix approach, training junior engineers, troubleshooting through to resolution, and contributing to the design and automation of Information Technology processes
  • Finally, you’ll drive the team toward Service Excellence, working in tandem with fellow Engineers, Supervisors, and Managers to improve knowledge sharing, contribute to a learning culture, and increase efficiencies in our troubleshooting and ticket-handling practices

What you bring:

  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a system helpdesk environment supporting Media/VFX or high throughput computing environments preferred
  • Solid experience and fluency in Linux and Windows required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Visual Effects applications strongly preferred; these applications include Nuke, Maya, Houdini, After Effects, and Tractor
  • Technical support experience at 3rd level – having handled escalations from 1st/2nd level support team(s), including after-hours and on-call support as required
  • Experience working with and moderating modern MDM and deployment services, including PDQ, InTune, and/or Airwatch/WorkspaceOne
  • Strong knowledge in Networking, Servers, Office 365, Azure/AWS, VOIP
  • Experience administering Active Directory
  • Experience supporting both local and remote employees, including management of remote hardware and accessories – with an emphasis on talking non-technical users through technical solutions
  • Ability to work autonomously, evaluate competing priorities, and delegate to and guide junior engineers to complete tasks under service-level agreements across global teams in Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Sydney
  • Basic scripting experience in Bash, Windows CMD/PowerShell, or Python
  • Proven ability to document knowledge accurately and completely, and train other staff as needed (presentation and delivery skills)
  • Remote support, on-call after hours support experience highly desirable
