Pipeline TD – Previs
- Animated Feature Film

As the Previs TD you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining the Previs pipeline, and for technical contribution and problem solving on previs production sequences. You will also be involved in shot work within the department. Your goals are to make previs as effective and efficient as possible as well as getting sequences completed. What you’ll get to do:

  • Design, create and maintain tools, and support the previs team in their work
  • Develop realtime character and environment assets, effects, and materials to elevate and clarify the visual storytelling in the previs sequences
  • Take responsibility for the optimisation of the workflow of the department
  • Ensure that systems support previs operating in ‘realtime’ or as close to it as possible
  • Troubleshoot creative and technical issues
  • Support the integration of previs with Art, Story, Editorial, and Rough Layout departments
  • Work with the Department Supervisor to identify and implement technology needs
  • Remain abreast of new technologies and emerging industry trends, integrating them into the existing infrastructure
  • Manage tool deployment to previs team members
  • Assist with technical asset development and distribution, such as rigging previs characters, converting and implementing materials from art department, and exporting reference assets for other departments
  • Liaise with the Production Technology team to ensure compliance with current internal best practices
  • Provide training to the artists for new tools
  • Contribute to the documentation of the department’s technical platform

What you bring:

  • 3+ years’ proven experience in animation for feature films, TV, TVCs and games
  • Previs, Layout, Animation and/or Rigging experience
  • An understanding of realtime and game engine workflows
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proficiency in OS command line scripting
  • Proficiency with either Blender or Maya scripting
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git, Perforce, SVN)
  • Proficiency in developing graphical user interfaces
  • A strong understanding of production processes and artist workflows within film and television visual effects pipelines
  • Familiarity with the VFX pipeline: Modeling, Texturing, Animation, Rigging, Editing
    • Experience with USD considered a bonus
