Animal Logic wins at the APDG Awards

14 December 2015

Animal Logic’s VFX teams have been awarded the WYSIWYG 3D Pty Ltd Award for Best Visual Effects Design at the 5th Annual Australian Production Design Guild Awards for their work on The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The teams – led by Animal Logic VFX Supervisor Paul Butterworth and Producer Jason Bath – helped create a pivotal scene in the film, as well as a number of other shots, after being called upon by Marvel’s Visual Effects Supervisor Chris Townsend.

Their design work on the ‘Birth of Ultron’ scene, as well as their digital representations of cyber space from the inside, was enough to see them crowned as winners of the 2015 Award.

Butterworth commented: “All of us here at Animal Logic are honoured and delighted to receive this prestigious award from the Australian Production Designers Guild. I have to thank Chris Townsend for giving us the chance to work on this amazing film, but I also have to thank the amazing creative teams at Animal who helped us realise director Joss Whedon’s vision, without whom awards like this would never happen.”

Other members of the crew named on the night include CG Supervisor Matt Estela, CG Artists Matt Ebb, Benjamin Jones and Rodrigo Guimaraes, and Compositing Artists Tyson Donnelly and Alex Lay.
