Studio Partners with Animal Logic to Produce First Live-Action / CG Adaptation of Beloved Classic

Animal Logic is proud to bring the childhood favourite, Peter Rabbit, to life in a new live-action/CG motion picture adaptation based on the internationally beloved series of books written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter.

The film, which is currently in production in Sydney, is directed by Will Gluck (Annie, Friends with Benefits) and made at Animal Logic. Will Gluck and Animal Logic CEO, Zareh Nalbandian are producing, while Doug Belgrad will serve as Executive Producer.

Equally exciting is the stellar cast that have come on board to share their voice talents including, James Corden who has been recording as the lead role of Peter, with Daisy Ridley, Elizabeth Debicki and Margot Robbie voicing some of Beatrix Potter’s timeless characters. Rose Byrne is starring as the live-action female lead, Bea, with Domhnall Gleeson as Mr. McGregor.

With this film, Columbia Pictures and Frederick Warne will bring Beatrix Potter’s beloved character Peter Rabbit to a new family audience. Frederick Warne has been Beatrix Potter’s publisher since its publication of The Tale of Peter Rabbit in 1902 and is the home of Peter Rabbit and the Beatrix Potter brand.

Will Gluck said, “I am delighted to be teaming up with Frederick Warne. Their expertise and stewardship is absolutely critical to making a film that honors the legacy of Beatrix Potter.”

Zareh Nalbandian added, “This is the culmination of two years of development at Animal Logic Entertainment, Olive Bridge Entertainment and Columbia Pictures.  It has been a great journey bringing Peter Rabbit, his family and many friends to the screen. Peter has fans all over the world, and we’re excited to be working with Will, Columbia, and Frederick Warne to make a film to delight audiences globally.”

The film is made possible with the support of the Australian Government through Screen Australia and Screen NSW and in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation.

Peter Rabbit is due for worldwide release in April 2018. During the course of the production it is expected that over 600 specialised craft, live action visual FX crew and support staff will be employed to work on the film.
